DEAD MEN HAVE NO RIGHTS

Tom Harding

People in our day are always beating the sacred drum of civil rights. Well, we are guaranteed certain rights of liberty under our Bill Of Rights. We do give thanks to our God and our forefathers for these privileges. However, in the spiritual kingdom, we lost all our rights. We have no right to salvation or eternal life, because in our forefather Adam we lost all our citizenship, therefore all our rights. We not only lost our citizenship, but we also lost spiritual life, dead men do not have any rights or privileges. When our father Adam willfully violated the constitution of God (Genesis 2:16-17) he was condemned, and rightly punished and cast out of the garden (Genesis 3:17-19). The scriptures plainly teach what Adam did, we did, being found in him. His punishment became ours (Rom. 5:12). Therefore, our only hope is to look to the Lord Jesus Christ. It is true that in Adam all died, but it is also true that in Christ all in Him shall be made alive (I Cor. 15:22). Our Lord Jesus Christ has the ability and the right to secure all things that we lost in Adam and much more, "where sin abounded, grace did much more abound." You have no right to heaven in yourself; your right lies only in Jesus Christ. If you are pardoned, it is through His blood, (I John 1:7); if you are justified, it is only through His righteousness, (Rom. 5:19); if you are sanctified, it is because He is made unto you sanctification, (I Cor. 1:30); if you are kept from failing, it will be because you are preserved in Jesus Christ (Jude 24); if you are perfected, it is because you are made complete in Him (Col. 2:9-10). Thank God we can stand before His throne, not in ourselves, but by being found in Him (Phil. 3:9), and accepted in the Beloved (Eph. 1:6).
