THE WEAPON OF MASS INSTRUCTION
2Tim. 3:16

Tom Harding

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: (2Tim. 3:16).

We hear much of what the war in Iraq is suppose to be all about, "the weapons of mass destruction." Although these weapons have yet to be discovered, they still may pose a real threat if they fall into the wrong hands. Wouldn't it be great if all men were taken up with the, "weapon of mass instruction" (the Bible) as they are taken up with hunting for the, "weapons of mass destruction."

My friend, we have been given to us this glorious, "weapon of mass instruction," the very testimony of Holy Scripture from the heart of God. God has not left Himself without a witness (Isa. 8:20). All that we need to know concerning the way of salvation in Christ is found in this, "weapon of mass instruction" This weapon, God has ordained for our use is called, "a sharp twoedged sword" given to His church for holy purposes (Heb. 4:12; Eph. 6:17). Through the word of God we find out what sin is ( Rom. 5:12; Matt. 15:18-20; 1John 3:4). By the word of God we also find out how sin is put away by the blood atonement (Heb. 2:17) and susbtitionary work of our Great High Priest, the Lord Jesus Christ (Heb. 9:12; 26). May God grant us holy determination to make much of the, "weapon of mass instruction," in our personal study (Acts 17:11), in our daily walk (Col. 3:16) in our public worship service (1Thes. 5:27) and in the preaching of the gospel (2Tim. 4:1-5). Truly, we say with David, "How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth! Through thy precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false way. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path" (Psalm 119:103-105).
